San Diego training
01

Give your off-court training a clear purpose.

Pickleball can involve short movements, changes of direction, reaching, lowering your body and recovering your position for the next shot. A useful training conversation starts with the parts you find demanding and the amount of play already in your week.

You may want to establish a consistent strength routine, work on balance and movement control or organize conditioning around regular games. The plan should reflect your starting point rather than assume every player needs the same workout.

02

What your training can include

Strength

Progressive resistance training selected for your experience, goals and available equipment. The emphasis can include the lower body, upper body and trunk as part of a balanced program.

Balance and coordination

Controlled practice that considers how you manage your body position while stepping, reaching and changing direction. Difficulty develops from an appropriate starting point.

Movement and mobility

Work on useful ranges of motion and how you control them. Depending on your needs, sessions can include lateral movement, turning, controlled stopping and returning to a ready position.

Conditioning and recovery

Plan conditioning alongside the games and other activity you already do. Review how demanding the week has been and adjust training when play, travel or work changes the picture.

03

For adults building a routine around the game

You do not need a tournament schedule to discuss fitness coaching. AEON's private training may suit recreational players, adults returning to a more active routine and players who want an individual plan alongside their regular games.

If you already train, the starting question is how that work fits your pickleball. If you are new to structured exercise, the conversation begins with your experience, goals and a manageable starting point.

04

Start with the person, then build the program.

Discuss your week. Tell us how often you play, what other exercise you do and what you would like training to help you work toward.

Review the starting point. Coaching considers your training history, movement and current tolerance for exercise. This is a fitness process, not a medical diagnosis.

Agree the practical details. Confirm the format, setting, availability, fees and any location costs before committing.

Progress and adjust. Review what you are doing and how the program fits your actual week. Changes should have a clear purpose rather than add difficulty for its own sake.

Fitness coaching, with clear boundaries

AEON's work focuses on physical preparation. Technical pickleball coaching addresses paddle skills, shot selection and tactics. These are complementary roles; this service does not replace your pickleball instructor.

J. Semrau's background includes fitness coaching at Mouratoglou Tennis Academy and personal training for private clients. That experience informs AEON's approach to strength, movement and conditioning. Read the coaching background.

AEON does not diagnose or treat injuries or medical conditions. Persistent symptoms or significant limitations warrant assessment by an appropriately qualified clinician. No training program can guarantee injury prevention, a higher rating or a particular result on court.

Before you begin

Practical questions.

Is this a pickleball lesson?

No. This is private fitness coaching adapted to adults who play pickleball. It focuses on strength, movement, balance and conditioning rather than paddle technique or tactics.

Do I need to be fit already?

No particular fitness level is required to begin a conversation. Your starting point and training history shape what is appropriate. If a medical condition or symptoms affect exercise, we discuss whether guidance from your healthcare professional is needed.

Do sessions have to take place on a court?

No. Physical preparation can be planned in a suitable training setting. In-home, hybrid or other arrangements are discussed individually. Access to any third-party facility must be confirmed before sessions are arranged.

Can I train if I already play several days a week?

That playing schedule is part of the brief. Tell us about the frequency and demands of your games so we can discuss how fitness work might fit. The aim is a coherent plan, not simply more sessions.

What does it cost?

We discuss the format, fees and any location-related costs before you commit. Ask about availability with your neighborhood, goals and usual training times. No online assessment is required to inquire.
